Who can participate?
Teams consist of 20 paddlers, a drummer, a steersperson, a manager, and 2 alternates, for a total maximum of 25. Of the 20 paddlers, 8 must be women. You must be 14 years old to paddle on a team.
How much does it cost?
This fun and exciting fundraising extravaganza is brought to you for a low, low price of $800 per team. This fee includes the paperwork handling, dragonboat lease for practice on the night before the race and the day of the race, awards, as well as other worthy items. A $50.00 discount will be given for registering by May 1, 2009 and providing full payment by July 2, 2009.
How many people will be at this thing, anyway?
At our 2007 festival, we had 83 teams, which is more than 1,800 people, just in the race, not to mention the thousands of people who came to Barkers Island to watch the event. We expect even more people to come to this year's event. Additionally, there will be volunteers and many race officials plus news media. At an event like this, you will not have to worry about being all alone!
