Ninety-five years ago, Captain Charles S. Barker left behind a legacy to the community of Superior...an island in Superior Bay. On Saturday, August 22, 2009, the Superior Bay off Barker�s Island will be the site of the seventh annual Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival. The water between the island and the mainland will provide an ideal venue for the race, and Barkers Island itself is a terrific staging area, providing ample space for spectators and all the activities associated with dragon boat racing.
